I’m so excited. Today, I became a verified artist on Spotify. If you don’t know what that is or why it’s important, let me tell you. Well for one thing, I get a cool check next to my name. Aside from that, the verification gives my listeners a reassurance that I am a legitimate artist and my artist account is really my account. As an independent artist, this is helpful.
Another perk of having a verified Spotify account is that I have more control over my Spotify artist page. I can put up a bio, picture, upcoming engagements and other relevant information. In addition, I have access to statistical data about my listeners, such as age range, location, listening frequency, etc. This information can help me plan my concert and tour dates in an intelligent way and help me better serve my listeners. This will ultimately help me grow my community.
Spotify also has a fairly new feature that allows artists and labels to submit unreleased music to their editors for playlist consideration. There is no guarantee that Spotify will put my music on a list, but it can’t hurt to submit the music. In a few weeks, I’ll get a chance to test out this feature because I will have new music soon.
I’ll keep you all posted about how things go. By the way, if any of you have already submitted your unreleased music to Spotify’s editorial team, I’d love to hear from you. Please, share your experience. If you haven’t tried that feature yet, that’s ok. Comment anyway or post the link to your Spotify page in the comments. I love discovering new music.
